Data recovered from surviving archives suggests the civilization—the Asteri—was among the most advanced ever encountered.
Not merely warp capable.
They possessed mastery of gravitational engineering.
Their entire civilization was powered by harvesting energy from the rotating black hole itself.
They exploited the Penrose Process and controlled magnetic fields threading the ergosphere, extracting rotational energy on a colossal scale.
To them, the black hole was an inexhaustible power plant.
For tens of thousands of years, it worked perfectly.
