The golden shimmer of the transporter released her after a few seconds. The vista of the Vulcan Forge landscape that could be seen through the expansive window behind the transporter operator was now replaced with a starke white with red trim wall. The transporter operator was clad in a red jumpsuit with a black 'V' shaped panel on his chest. He was human also, most likely no older than eighteen or nineteen years old. He seemed so young, was he too young to be in starfleet... She couldn't help but contemplate that for a moment knowing full well it was spurred on by her experience on the USS Sennica.
It felt as though the moment stretched on to long but in truth is was no more than a second or two and she was stepping down from the transporter platform and moving through into the waiting area of docking platform three. Their transport to carry her and her mate and Doctor T'Chiara was due to depart in a little over an hour. She surmised that Doctor T'Chiara would join them momentarily if she was not already on the station.
Mo'teck has been authorised as an addition to her crew on the Oberth, something she was grateful for as they had only been bonded by marriage in the last year and they had been prevented from spending much time in one another's company due to assignments.
"Command have advised that the quarters are of an insufficient size to accommodate two individuals. They have allocated you separate quarters on Deck two".
Mo'teck nodded his understanding. "I will leave and tend to my belongings there but will join you in the evenings," he said simply.
They were recently bonded after all. If the bed would not accommodate them both he would sleep on the floor.
"Understood" Sakara was surveying the waiting area, the panoramic view of Vulcan, the domes jutting out from the main spire that was Starbase Two. Each dome was a different biodiverse habitable environment from Vulcan and its neighbouring star system of P'Jem, much like that of Starbase one now in Orbit of Jupiter in the Sol system. They had been launched into space shortly after the construction of Starbase 2 had commenced to mirror that of Starbase 1. The Andorians and Tellerites had completed much the same projects when the Federation had been formed meaning if any of the biomes collapsed on their home planets, there would be some way to reintroduce those elements once again.
She spotted their departure gate, several individuals were milling around the gate but no activity in regards to boarding seemed to be happening at this time. She did spot the Doctor.
Recognising her old friend, T'Chiara moved towards the gathered Vulcans. "Are we not yet permitted to board?" She asked, just as a male Vulcan of similar age in equal blue uniform approached with very swift strides. His expression was composed, though mildly flushed as if he had truly hurried to get here. "S'Kai what are you doing here?"
The young man drew a measured breath. "I came to see you off." He turned to the others. "I am Lieutenant S'Kai, T'Chiara's betrothed."
Mo'Tek dipped his chin ever so slightly. He raised his hand and parted his fingers in the common Vulcan salute. "Live long and prosper," he said to the other male.
"Peace and long life" Sakara added adopting the same salute. "S'Kai... Science division?"
Sakara didn't miss a beat knowing full well that the medical and science departments on Oberth were severely lacking. If this man was available she would be taking him with her and keeping her old friend and her betrothed together.
S'Kai gave a minute nod in confirmation. "Yes ma'am. And I am still awaiting assignment from Starfleet. I was entertaining a couple of days leave to spend with T'Chiara, after she informed me of her departure from Vulcan."
"USS Oberth is currently recruiting officers and crew for a deep space science mission should you wish to apply!" Sakara added in a very pointed way. She herself was accompanied by her mate, why not the chief medical officer as well.
"I am not certain if I have a choice in the matter," the young man answered logically, "if you require a science officer, and I am available, Starfleet will see the logic of assigning me."
"Of course he will apply," Kia cut in, "he will be honoured to. And as he said, Starfleet will see the logic of the matter."
Mo'tek raised an eyebrow slightly his only indication of acknowledgement of the serendipitous as the humans would put it turn of events. He pulled out a PADD and handed it to the other Vulcan. Logic would dictate the other man make the application as soon as possible.
"I have just submitted my own a few hours back. The PADD is still bookmarked for the official route to apply," he stated.
"Thank you," S'Kai answered simply while accepting the device. He took a few seconds to fill out the form, then offered it to the captain. "If you would add your signature of approval I am certain it will help to speed up the process."
Sakara didn't even stop to consider. She applied her signature without thought. "I am told this is one of the advantages of commanding ones own vessel. I have no one to answer to other than the Admirals and even that is only pertaining to the mission and not the personnel".
"Thank you captain," the Vulcan male answered solemnly, assuming this meant he was formally part of the crew now.
"Quarters will be assigned upon arrival" Sakara added as she noticed over the shoulder of her Medical Officer that the transport was boarding finally.
"We should make our way to boarding!"
"It is this way," Mo'Tek indicated. He waited for his spouse to go first. She should be the first to step foot on her new vessel.
