Mission: Prologue: Joy is in the journey
Location: Planet Vulcan - City of ShiKahr

ON

The blinds did little to stop the beating Sun of 40 Eridani A from bleeding through the gaps. As with any day on Vulcan it was warm, even at this early stage of the day and despite Mount Selaya being directly between the estate that Captain Sakara of Starfleet had been bequeathed after the passing of her grandmother, a Human women who had taken up residence on Vulcan shortly after she had been bonded to a Vulcan man. It was a lavish estate by Vulcan standards but Sakara herself would not admit that she found comfort from the Human touches that still embellished the grounds and property. Her husband had a differing opinion.

She stretched, her back popping with the motion releasing in a satisfying manner as she pushed away the crisp white sheets, her husbands side of the bed already vacant, she assumed he would be meditating already or perhaps preparing a morning meal. It was in these moment alone that she indulged her Human heritage, no matter of fractional it was, but pulling a satin robe around her before padding barefoot on the still cool stone flooring, the property having been carved directly into the cliff side on the verge of Vulcan Forge.

She drew back the blinds and looked out over the stark yet beautiful vista before her. The rust red sands of the forge sprawling before her for miles, the ceremonial precipice of Mount Selaya to her left casting a long shadow over the property and shielding it from the burning sun. She stretched her arms above her head as she stepped through onto the terrace, looking down to the buildings below as the estate itself was carved into an arch of rock, as many of the buildings in this area were.

Mo'Tek having finished his morning meditation had set a table outside on the terrace. It led to an advantageous view of the estate although he could not rationalise his wife's and wife's late grandmothers fondness for eating in the open.

"I ma dator asal-yem t'nash-veh k'diwa. Uf did du yuk?", he said joining her outside carrying a tray with fresh Gespar and cold juice.

{Translation - I have prepared breakfast my beloved. How did you sleep?}

She was not surprised to hear her husbands voice, it was soothing even after so many years being bonded.
"Yel-halitra ma ordered me pla' fi' torupik gu-vam heh promoted me tor a'fic t' t'nash-veh sha' hali"

{Translation - Starfleet have ordered me back on active duty and promoted me to command of my own ship}

She turned to face him, standing from the chair she had sunk into.

"Yuk did ri sarlah hagik tonk'peh i dang nam-tor-lof"

{Translation - Sleep did not come easy but I should function adequately}

"Ish-veh srashiv ma vesh' naglanshau heh valued," he told her a sense of internal pride within him for his mate but on the outside it showed reserved as always.

{Your achievements have been recognised and valued.}

He placed the tray down on the table edge and placed the items from it slowly and methodically. Then turned and reached gently to graze her finger in sentiment not knowing if he was included in this or they were to be parted. "Lu tor du trasha?

{When do you leave?}

"Fa-gad"

She could even hear the disappointment within her own voice when she whispered 'Tomorrow' in the common tongue. She looked away, taking a moment to compose herself knowing that the outburst, however minor, would be enough to have made her bond mate notice her discomfort.

Perhaps she was not as adjusted to what had happened than she had thought. The prospect of returning to duty was certainly a mixed bag of emotion. One she would fight back down or be seen as a the hybrid that she was, no matter how insignificant her human portion was now after two generations.

"A'fic ma sep-wafikh na' me tor me tor dvel-tor danik t' t'nash-veh sha' hali-sutra heh i ma vesh' dang du istaya tor sailau me fi' wuh kaukuh tevun skrol?"

She added, finally looking back to her mate.

{Translation - Command have agreed for me to select most of my own crew and I have been permitted special dispensation should you wish to accompany me on the five year mission?}

"I dungi sailau du," he stated simply. He had no further engagements on their home world presently and they stood stronger and worked well together. It was illogical not to go with his mate.

{Translation - I will accompany you}

She moved towards him, standing within his personal space and standing a full head shorter than he. She brought her hand up to cup her cheek in her hand, her face never flinching from the passive and stoic exterior but her words conveyed the emotion she held for him.

"Du nam-tor wuh danik yauluhk person svi' t'nash-veh ha'kiv heh i meskaraya lo'uk na' du"

{Translation - You are the most important person in my life and I hold great affection for you}

"U' nam-tor du tor me," he said to the affection and cupping her own face. Alone in their own home, from society and prying eyes they could convey more.

{Translation - As are you to me.}

In fact he took a moment to place his lips to hers. His affection not in question both physically and through their telepathic bond.

Pulling back again, he indicated the table. "Etek dang shaya etwel sahris heh yi palikaya"

{Translation - We should break our fast and then begin preparations.}

She followed as indicated, slipping into the chair and taking one last look at the sunrise. It would be the last time for five years most likely before she would see her home again and she intended to indulge her senses with a lingering stare at 40 Eridani A crested mount Selaya's peak and began to reign down rays of lights waking the slumbering city below.
