Max was sure she would go to ten forward. When one had such a shocking day as today was turning out one would reach for a drink. However he did not find her in the main lounge. He was looking through the computer at some of the smaller lounges trying to work out how to get to them when someone saved him the trouble.

Marc almost stumbled through the doors of his quarters.
Nearly thirty-two hours had passed since the accident. It had been slightly longer since he'd managed anything resembling sleep, and this was the first time he'd been afforded even a few uninterrupted moments to stop, breathe, and think about anything beyond the crippled ship and the people depending on him.

The trio made their way through the Jefferies tubes from Deck 1, following the same route Commander Vero and Doctor Syvar had already taken. Marc was well aware that neither man needed to make the journey again, but with the ship's turbolifts still unreliable, it remained the quickest way to reach the lower decks.
For that reason, Marc kept his thoughts to himself during the journey. There were matters he wanted to discuss with Commander Vero, but the cramped confines of the tubes hardly seemed the appropriate place for the conversation.

Marc emerged from Engineering with his jaw set and his patience wearing dangerously thin.
The conversation with his Chief Engineer had gone nowhere near as well as he had hoped. He had walked into Engineering expecting to find someone who understood the gravity of the situation, someone ready to take ownership of the crisis and throw herself into getting the ship back into working order.
