Personal History Rob was born in Omaha, Nebraska. His family has owned the farm where they all live. At the age of 9, he qualified for his pilots license. He's started flying a single engine Cessna. He would fly his family for family parties. He's also qualified to crop dusting. And he's also a fire watch pilot.
This is where he got the flying bug.

He took a school trip to San Francisco, where the class was taking a trip to Starfleet Academy. He's always wanted to attend the Academy. He saw a statue of Zephram Cochrane, father of the warp drive. Vids of the Vulcans that came to Earth. And the first Captain that commanded a starship, Jonathan Archer.
The class was able to take a tour of a mock up of the NX 1 Enterprise. He sat at the helm where Travis Mayweather sat. He could feel the energy from that chair.
Then they were taken to a auditorium, where an officer told them about the history of the Academy, and if someone applied, what would be excepted of them.
The officer made it sound like it was hard.

He knew he wanted to go to the Academy, and he would have to get his grades up to top level if he wanted his application to be taken seriously.

When he got back to home, he study harder then he ever had.

The studying worked, his grades rose to near the top of the school. His teachers were impressed. Rob went from an average student, to 3% on the top students.

He graduated from the Primary school.

As an experiment, Starfleet Academy opened a school where students aged 12 - 14, who showed promise and excellence, to be able to study at the Academy, and if they achieved mentally and physically, they could apply to the Academy.

Rob's parents allowed him to apply, and based on his grades and recommendations from teachers, Rob applied and was accepted. It meant moving to San Francisco, but this was Rob's dream.

Rob was given a uniform to wear, all students must wear it. The lessons changed every month, this was to challenge to students. Many washed out, almost a third, but Rob was still there.

He studied every chance he got. The students were allowed to access the Academy's computers for lessons.

He shared a room with 3 other boys.

At the end of the first month, grades were posted. Rob's name was near the top 3%. Those who struggled, or failed, were given another month to catch up. Rob would tutor his roommates.

As the months passed, he watched as two of his roommates washed out. His classes seemed empty with all the vacant seats.

By the end of the first year, out of 250 students that started the course, only 65 remained. They did say that it was going to be rough.

At the end of the first semester break, he traveled home to see his family. He spent two weeks helping around the farm.

The second semester started, and by the end of the first month, only 45 students remained. Rob's grades remained in the top 3%. Every day, it seemed that more and more people students were leaving.

He no longer had a roommate. He found it increasingly lonely with no one to talk to.

The semesters passed quickly now. He stopped going home on the breaks. He had long calls with his family, sometimes just to hear a human voice.

His days were filled with classes and ship simulations that tested his ability to handle stress related scenarios.

Before he realized it, the semester was over. Again, Rob didn't go home, he stayed and studied and signed up for simulation time on the main computer.

He saw fewer and fewer familiar in the now almost empty corridors.

The years passed so quickly. Before he knew it, he was turning 18, and attending the graduation class.
The group was so small, they could have held it in the cargo hold of a shuttlecraft.

Rob was the Valedictorian of the class. He was so far above the remaining students that no one was even close to him.

When he accepted his diploma from the Academy's Chancellor, he was told that he would be enrolling in the Academy in his Sophomore year, which meant when he graduated, he would be 20 years old. Imagine, he could be an ensign on a starship at 20.

He excelled in his Academy courses. Every night he would call his family to hear their voices. They were excited for him, but they missed him every day.

2 years later.....

Graduation day....this time from the actual Academy. When his name was called, he walked towards the chancellor and accepted his diploma and his Ensign pips. His family was in the audience, which was a surprise to Rob.

He celebrated that night with his family at a nice restaurant.

Two days later, he was called to the Office Of Starfleet Personnel, where he would have to select what ship he was posting to. He looked at the openings on all starships and bases. If he saw something interesting, he would use the computer to call up the roster of that ship and see if there was an opening for a Helmsman.

After about 2 hours of doing research, he finally decided on......USS Oberth.
Service Record The Oberth will be his first posting since graduating.
